Chris Donnelly has spent 25 years at the crossroads of product and strategy.
He has spent the last two years managing a portfolio of advisor and investments in TopFlight Ventures. The focus has been across consumer innovation and growth opportunities. From 2006 to 2015, Mr. Donnelly was Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Product Officer for Oakley where he had P&L responsibility for the $1.9B optics, apparel, and accessories portfolio. His team of 450 across innovation, R&D, product design and consumer experience (retail and digital) tripled the size of the company and added 800 bp to the gross margin. Starting in 2003, he spent four years with Nike, part of the original team that acquired and integrated Converse, Hurley, Cole Hahn and Bauer. These companies represent $5B in Nike portfolio today. From 1990 to 1999, Mr. Donnelly was with Bain & Co., leading teams in the private equity, technology, and consumer goods practices. Over the last 25 years, he has also founded and sold three start-ups in on-line consumer data management, innovation consulting, and technology/wearables. Whether in start-ups or leadership roles in billion dollar product portfolios, Mr. Donnelly believes a company’s success is rooted in clear, simple priorities that drive unique product and consumer experiences. Long-term success requires alignment with every team every day behind the same top down goals. He has an undergraduate degree in Thermodynamics Engineering and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
